Designing Your Custom Pool From Start to Finish

Last updated 1 day 16 hours ago

Constructing a custom swimming pool can be a large project, but the right pool contractor can make the process as painless and easy as possible! At Cascade Custom Pools, we take every step to provide the best service and create the pool you’ve always dreamed of.

    Designing Your Custom Pool

Before beginning any construction, your pool builder will meet you at your home to get measurements, take pictures, and discuss any ideas you may have for your custom pool. A high-tech company like Cascade Custom Pools will then put your design into our computer program, which creates a 3D image of your future pool in your outdoor space. This will be emailed to you, along with a detailed 3D estimate of the work required. Any changes you desire can be easily made.

    Getting Started

After getting all necessary requirements to build your pool, such as permits or approvals from your Homeowner’s Association, Cascade Custom Pools will paint an outline of your pool on the ground before beginning construction. From here, we can make any last-minute changes to the design of your in-ground pool before we begin.

    Digging Your Pool

Next, a crew will dig your pool, which can take several days of excavating. Wooden forms will help with the digging and construction process by outlining the area for workers. All of the dirt dug up will be hauled away, unless you wish to use it for other landscaping projects.

    Final Construction and Cleanup

Once the pool has been dug and the dirt hauled away, a steel frame will be formed in the ground to reinforce the pool’s structure. High-grade plumbing will be installed, tested, and inspected. A day will be needed to apply the gunite—a combination of rocks, sand, and cement that is used to form your pool. After that is complete, it will take several days to add the waterline tile, coping, and grout, and a few more days will be needed to seal your pool and create the surrounding landscape.

A Look at Pool Deck Layouts

    Last updated 9 days ago

When most people think about custom pool designs, they typically focus on the pool size, depth, and water temperature. However, the pool deck can be just as important, if not more so.

In this short video from ConcreteNetwork.com, landscape expert Scott Cohen discusses the ideal layout of a pool deck. He prefers to leave enough room around the pool for deck chairs, patio furniture, and foot traffic. When deciding the layout of your pool deck, he says you should always consider the shape of your house, as well as the position of the sun.

Qualities to Look for in a Pool Building Company

    Last updated 22 days ago

If you are looking to build a custom swimming pool, then one of the first tasks is finding a pool builder to take care of the pool design and actual labor. When choosing a quality pool building company, look for these four things.

    Background

You will want to make sure the pool builders you choose have a history in the community and will not walk out on the job.  Find out how many years they have been in the business and their overall background.  Ask for a list of references and to see past jobs they have completed in person.

    Certification

See if the pool builder belongs to the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals or the Better Business Bureau.  Get a copy of their general liability directly from their insurance company.  This will release you from any liability in the event of a mishap.

    Payment Plan

Setting up an effective payment plan is the best way to ensure that the job is competed in a timely and efficient manner.  Try to set up a plan that fairly compensates your pool builder for the work completed.

    Check Operations

You will want to make sure that the pool builder’s operations follow the guidelines set forth by the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals.  Make sure that additional electrical work or the possibility of the pool builder hitting rock is accounted for in the contract.

Look no further than Cascade Custom Pools if you are looking for a luxurious custom pool design in Austin.  Our team of pool builders has the experience, reliability and excellence in pool design to create an in-ground custom swimming pool that will be the envy of your neighborhood.  For a free estimate and custom pool design, call us today at 512-694-9280!

Unique Features to Customize Your Pool!

    Last updated 29 days ago

Making upgrades to your home’s outdoor infrastructure can add beauty to your backyard, increase the value of your house, and improve your quality of life.  If you are looking for a way to spruce up your custom swimming pool or the area around it, then consider investing in one of these three water features before summer kicks into gear.

     Waterfall and Grotto

Give your custom designed swimming pool a mystic allure by installing a waterfall in tandem with a grotto.  Modeled after spaces found in ocean caves, a backyard grotto can provide you with a sheltered space that usually feels a bit more secluded than the rest of your pool.  This can allow for a romantic water escape for the swimming couple, a sanctuary for swimmers who are seeking solitude from a group, or a play area for kids who will most likely find it fascinating.  Incorporating a waterfall into this mix allows you to sit or stand in your grotto and bathe under cool, rushing water as it spills over the grotto wall and onto your head.

    Swim-Up Bar

Invite your friends over for cocktails and a swim, and watch their mouths drop with delight when they see that your custom swimming pool has a swim-up bar.  Installing a swim-up bar can make your in-ground pool a more social place.  It also makes for a good meeting point where the swimmer and the guest who would prefer to stay dry can coexist naturally.  Swim-up bars are also a great way for you to make your custom swimming pool unique, as you can incorporate as much personal flair as you would like into its design.

    Negative Edge

If you want to make your backyard feel like an exclusive tropical resort, then discuss the possibility of a negative edge with your custom swimming pool designer.  While impressive in almost any setting, the effects of a negative edge are especially dramatic on custom swimming pools situated high on hills or in backyards that look out onto lakes or rivers.

If any of these water features appeal to you or if you have another idea in mind that you would like to see a custom pool builder in Austin design to fulfill your backyard dreams, then contact Cascade Custom Pools today at (512) 694-9280.
